In the Spring of 1996, UCI hosted a Universitywide conference on the status of women in the UC system. There was no shortage of topics to explore, and most participants came away from the experience with a better understanding of the problems confronting women at all levels in the UC system as well as of the possibilities for fixing those problems.
One of the local outcomes of the conference was the establishment of the UCI Campus Advisory Committee on the Status of Women. Several interested women, representing a cross section of the campus population, began meeting to organize a group that could monitor the status of women at UCI as well as initiate and support efforts to protect and improve their status.
This home page is CACSW's first project, designed to let you know who's involved, what it hopes to do for UCI, and how you can let us know what your concerns are regarding the status of UCI women. It is also designed to provide a clearinghouse for resources on women's issues.
